I never thought that silence film would be interesting, until I saw this imaginative ‘Metropolis’ film. The overacted expression in the film, even thou it made me laugh, but yet it does help me understand each character in the film more clearly without dialogue. The music in the film also helps me to understand more, as the beat of the music is different depending on the situation of each scene. The main character ‘Freder, Jon Fredersen’s son’ is like an innocent man, who thinks his world is fun and playful. He never know that the world have separate the above and the below world, until he went looking for the girl he is interested. The film portray well on showing the differentiate between people, when Freder entered the factory under the ‘radiant city’ and found the explosion. He never knew before that how hard and dangerous workers have to deal in their everyday job.
Overall, I really find this film interesting and meaningful, as it can portray our world today; separating people by their wealth and the use of machine in today’s life. As machines are now taking a big role in our life, and if one day all of these technologies rise against us, as Freder said in the film, “What if one day, the depths rise again you”, then what will we do…
